Founded in 2001 by Pastor Rich Witmer in Yuma, Arizona, the church was originally incorporated as Generations Church Inc., later rebranding in 2012 to operate under the name Destiny Christian Church. Early ministry emphasis centered on strong Bible teaching, leadership development, and local outreach.
In 2011, the church expanded by launching a second campus in Chandler (Mesa area), Arizona, enabling broader regional impact while maintaining a unified vision ("One Church with Two Locations"). Pastor Rich regularly travels between Yuma and Chandler to preach, teach, and mentor both campuses’ leadership teams.
Destiny Church has been shaped by a passion to "win souls and make disciples", with a strategy rooted in leadership multiplication: winning individuals, consolidating into community, discipling believers, and sending leaders onward.
Internationally, the church has grown to serve globally through Southeast Asia. Pastor Rich has ministered in 19 countries, administered conferences attended by up to 120,000 people, and cultivated a leadership network serving more than 7,000 churches in the Philippines. Notably, Destiny Christian Church has also supported humanitarian projects, including helping fund and build an orphanage in Indonesia, and training pastors across Asia.
Locally in Yuma and Chandler, the church maintains active partnerships with community organizations, supporting mentorship programs, youth and family initiatives, and community service projects. Leadership development remains central, both inside and outside the church context.
Over more than two decades, Destiny Christian Church has grown from a single congregation into a multi-campus, international ministry—all while staying true to its core mission: to reach people, raise up leaders, and impact the world through Christ.
